Why Women Philanthropists Are Changing the World

August 29, 2014

On August 28, 2014, Alexis Owen, Director of Philanthropic Services & Marketing, shared a webinar, discussing the impact women are making in the world of philanthropic giving.

Women account for 85% of consumer purchases and spend an estimated $5 trillion annually. They make up half the workforce and are quickly surpassing men in terms of educational attainment. It is estimated that $59 trillion will change hands over the first half of this century, and many women will inherit both from their parents and their spouses.

Given these facts, it is more apparent than ever that women will be shaping the face of philanthropy. In the webinar, Alexis discusses:

  • Differences between men & women in the way they give
  • What causes women typically give to
  • Generational differences in women and their giving behavior
  • How women engage with philanthropy and causes

If you have any questions regarding the webinar or want to learn more about engaging your base of female donors, please feel free to contact Alexis at 303.531.8100 or Alexis.Owen@myfw.com.
