David Stern, Director of Investment Research
David Stern has been instrumental at First Western Trust for over 17 and 1/2 years, overseeing investment strategy and research. He plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s financial direction, conducting in-depth analysis across various asset classes to inform strategic decisions and optimize portfolio performance.

Catherine Runge, Director of Insurance Services
Catherine Runge manages the insurance group at First Western, overseeing daily operations, financial performance, strategy, and new client development. Joining First Western in 2005, she has over twenty years of experience in insurance planning and financial services in the affluent market. Prior to joining First Western, she held roles managing underwriting and client service functions in multiple firms, including Financial Designs, Ltd., Great West Life & Annuity, and Oppenheimer Funds.

Mary Alred, Senior Fiduciary Officer
Mary has been employed at First Western since September 2023. As the senior fiduciary officer, she provides direction and assistance to the trust team, oversees administration of trust relationships, analyzes complex estate plan and tax issues. Prior to FW, she was employed at JPMorgan for over 20 years as an executive director in the estate settlement group and was engaged in private practice as an estate planning attorney in Chicago.
